Artist Statement: I have been offering my handmade greeting and note cards at the Left Bank for several years.  The challenge of making new cards with different ideas is fun for me.  I use various brands of stamps and use the Big Shot embossing machine and the Cricut cutting machine.  All three used together enable me to have many combinations!
During this same time, I have been displaying my mother’s artistic (Gertrude Wickersheim Lovig) cards for sale.  My mom really developed her art talent in the late 60’s but she was always drawing or painting items for relatives, friends and neighbors many years before then and even when she was in school.  I have converted a lot of her artwork into blank greeting cards because I think her talents should be shared and not hung as framed pictures in our family’s homes for just our enjoyment.  Her most popular art was the oil painting of the Giard Methodist Church and she also did a chalk talk on the Praying Hands.

Doing demonstrations at the Left Bank is fun and I find Halloween cards are the most unique to make so I like to choose September and/or October for these hands-on crafts.  Kids love it with lots of different Halloween die cuts available for them to use and they often want to make more than one card.  Adults often enjoy it as well!
