Artist Statement: From the moment I started to learn about glass, I read and went to anything “glass” I could..and from the beginning, fusing was always something that WAS going to happen, it was only a matter of when. I began very humbly with an old second-hand ceramics kiln with a non-working pyrometer and have evolved into fused glass jewelry simply because it is small and easy to handle, and the firing is fast. I have travelled from Florida and North Carolina to Las Vegas and Chicago to participate in workshops with many of the leading kiln-working artists/authorities in the United State. I’ve recently returned from the Glass Craft and Bead Expo where I furthered my techniques in beveling jewelry and also adding fine silver to pieces. Each time
I learn something it reinforces how much more there is to learn about warm glass. It is unlike anything else. As long as the thrill of opening a kiln full of beautiful jewelry remains strong, I will be learning and fusing more!
