Artist Statement: I have a fondness for changing colors of the Midwest, the summer greens, the winter blues, the spring yellows and pinks, and the autumn reds and oranges. Born in Fremont, Nebraska I developed an artistic nature at a young age under the influence of a red-haired German Grandmother who showed me how to make marks on any kind of paper. After graduating with a Commercial Art degree from Studio Academy of Commercial Art in Omaha, NE, I worked independently as a free-lance graphic artist. I experimented with pastel, charcoal, and colored pencils but developed an interest in oil painting and it has become my favorite medium.
Over the years I have attended workshops and classes to increase my skills as an artist. When I attended a plein air workshop, my passion for painting outdoors was ignited.
Two decades ago I moved from Nebraska to NE Iowa along the beautiful Mississippi River in a small river town named Guttenberg. Founded by German immigrants, this town proudly features its original limestone buildings. The landscape and the people in it create inspiration for many of my outdoor paintings. When the outdoor weather doesn't cooperate, I enjoy painting still lifes, portraits and pet portraits by commission. When I'm not behind a paint brush, I spend time with my kayak & camera, my husband, cooking and look forward to my time with my grandchildren,
