Artist Statement: My studies in art began as a child with imaginative play, sewing and coloring. Art came easily to me. I studied art for two years at Northland College in Ashland Wisconsin, and I graduated from Southern Illinois University with a degree in Art Studio. Since the natural world has always called out to me, this led me to further my studies and earn a certificate in Botanical Illustration from Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois.
Currently I live on a small farm not far from Wildcat Den state park in the Driftless Region of Wisconsin. Every day wild flowers, my veggie garden, farm animals and wildlife spark my creative spirit.
I was inspired to get rid of paper towels and use 100% re-usable towels. I decided to take function further with the addition of my original art.
My artwork is created with water color and colored pencil. When complete each image is professionally scanned and printed. It is my belief that a focus on "local" strengthens community and reduces environmental impact. My towels are produced as locally as is possible. The artwork is all created by me with the hope of encouraging others to live a life that is a little bit "greener". the wrapper is not plastic, it is called a Bio Bag.
