Artist Statement: I have always been fascinated by the abandoned farmsteads and obsolete machinery and vehicles that populate the landscape. The ghosts of the lives lived in those places seem to call out from the weathered boards and the rusted metal. Many of the old buildings I have used as subjects in my paintings have disappeared, but through my art, I hope to preserve some of those memories of things that are gone, but still remembered.

Several years ago, I began to paint small vignettes on dried and pressed leaves using acrylic paint. The complete painting is then sealed on both sides using a clear acrylic to preserve the leaf prior to the matting and framing.
