Artist Statement: The landscape and wildlife of the Upper Midwest,
predominately the Coulee Region,
inspire me to capture images.
We are fortunate to live in a region
which experiences seasonal changes.
It is a goal of mine to document the beauty of our region,
to bring the nature experience indoors.

In recent years, wildlife photography has been an increasing
portion of my portfolio. Capturing a dynamic image of
a wild creature is an exciting challenge for me.
The challenge with this genre of photography, is to engage with
the wild creature, while maintaining a safe distance from them
with minimal impact on their activities.

The Upper Midwest is fortunate to have special bird migration
events each Spring and Fall. In early Spring, Eagles and Pelicans
grace our region.  Fall is the time to find Tundra Swans
flocking to our wetlands.

The majesty of the Rocky Mountains and
the wildlife living there,
have also become a recent focus for my images.
There is a deep sense of peace to be found in the mountains.
It is my intention to convey this peace,
as well as share the exciting experience of
encountering the wild creatures living in the west.

It is my hope that my photos will inspire the viewer
to take a closer look at the world around them, and to find
the wonder hidden in the details.
