Artist Statement: “ I was created to be a creator. At it’s deepest heart creativity is meant to serve and evoke beauty, and I believe there is beauty in everything. I find myself deeply inspired by nature’s beauty. How I view that beauty can change as the light shifts from dawn to daylight, midday afternoon shadows onto evening’s dusk. The play of light on a simple flower or the sweeping landscape can change its color and mood from
ordinary to breathtaking, creating extraordinary beauty in any moment. The texture of the oil paints as well as the variety of surfaces I use to create these impressions assist me in expressing the depth and emotion I feel for nature in my paintings. Inspiration, energy and excitement of those special moments move me to create beauty as I work out doors in the elements en plein air and in my studio. It is my humble dream to share the emotion of that beauty with the art that I create.”

I work in both oils and watercolors, beginning with a miniature rough sketch on paper to work out the composition and lighting, moving to canvas or paper with brushes, paints and a vision. The process of transforming those puddles of paint into images still amazes me. The painting is finished when I feel Iʼve captured the essence of that moment with its light and mood.
