Winter 2020 Workshops
WINTER WORKSHOPS ARE CLOSED FOR 2020... WATCH FOR 2021 CLASSES
Winter Workshops at the Left Bank 2020
All classes are taught by local artists and are suitable for teens & adults.
Beginners are welcome.
All materials are included in the class fee.
Jan 11 Watercolor Painting 9AM - 12PM $10
David Prehm of New Hampton, IA will review basic watercolor techniques then guide the class in creating their own masterpiece. This class is ideal for the beginner or anyone looking to advance their skills.
Jan 18, Jan 25 & Feb 1 Clay (Three sessions) 9AM - 12PM $30
Mike Kabele will lead the first session in how to create a relief style welcome sign. Participants will want to bring a photo of their home (street view). Wheel time will also be available for those wishing to start love mugs for the next class. Judy Carlson will lead the next session in heart theme projects. This will be a great opportunity to create some one of a kind gifts for your favorite valentine. The last session will be glazing and painting the fired projects.
Feb 8 Acrylic Painting on Canvas 9AM - 12PM $10
Artist Sally Marshall of Prairie du Chien is back to lead the class in painting flowers. 11x14 canvas panels and all paint supplies will be provided along with Sally’s expert guidance.
Feb 22 Basket Making 9AM - 1PM $20
Margaret Stone will guide the class in creating a wall pouch basket with holly embellishment.
Supply list - old towel, snap clothespins (about 1 dozen), tape measure, water spray bottle, ice cream bucket or similar size, small screwdriver, sharp scissors and pliers.
This is a 4 hour long class, you may want to bring a sack lunch or snack/drink.
Feb 29 Wool Felting 9AM - 3PM $20
Let's have fun felting with DeeAnna Weed. Create a handsome bowl, table mat, or wall hanging using loose sheep wool. Beginners are welcome.
Class will be 6 hours long including a 30 minute lunch break.
Please bring 2 or 3 older bath towels, 2-4 quart bucket for water, sharp scissors, paper and pen for notes, and a sack lunch with drink.
You will need to be able to stand for an hour or more and work with your hands in an activity similar to kneading bread dough or body massage.
Wear a top with sleeves that you can roll up and sturdy, comfortable shoes. Be aware your clothes may get a bit damp, so bring a water resistant apron if you like.
March 7 Carved Feather Painting 9AM - 12PM $10
Harold Rosauer is well known at the Left Bank for creating beautiful carved painted wood feathers. Here is a chance for you to paint and take home a carved peacock chest feather. He will guide you step by step through the painting process then help secure them with pin backs.

After-school programs for school-aged children provide educational opportunities and foster appreciation for the arts at a young age. Contact the Arts Center for updates on workshops and programs.
